Our Kids Read (OKR) Reading Buddy Program

What is the OKR Reading Buddies Program?
The Our Kids Read Reading Buddy program is a free remote reading program open to K-5thgrade students who live in the United States.

We use Microsoft Teams to connect children all over the country with our Reading Buddy volunteers, who read 1:1 with a student.

How does it work?
An OKR Reading Buddy, via a screen-share, reads books from the Amazon Kindle cloud to K-5th grade students. Reading Buddies read with their student once or twice per week for 30 minutes (Reading Buddies sign up for a minimum of 8 weeks of reading).

Where Do Our Volunteers Come From?
Our volunteers come from our corporate partners, Verizon, Microsoft, Humana and others as well as high school juniors and seniors, retirees and members of the general public.
